The Gardens were a major attraction in Denver, especially in the early 20th century. Besides its floral gardens, zoo and amusements, it was the home of the Trocadero Ballroom, where many leading American bands and bandleaders played. This work emphasizes dramas staged at The Elitch Theatre, which opened in 1892 and saw the likes of Cecil B. DeMille, Sarah Bernhardt, Tyrone Power, Fredric March, Douglas Fairbanks, Sr, Edward G. Robinson and more on its stage. The back half of the book features publicity portraits of many of these actors and actresses. --- In pale green paper-covered boards backed in darker green cloth, with pasted-on cover & spine paper title blocks. Volume lacks the dust jacket. --- A well-preserved, tightly-bound copy, though with three stickers and a rubberstamping to front endpapers, another rubberstamping and a book plate pasted to rear endpapers.
